Fitness Tips

Another year, another resolution. January seems to be the month when we all decide to pick ourselves up and get out for some exercise. It can be quite daunting. We are surrounded by extreme diets and exercise plans. It can be tricky to know where to start. I have tried to follow the Sweat with Kayla app (blog post all about it here) and although no doubt there would be amazing results if I continued to follow it, the routine was too much and I was unable to adapt it into my already busy routine. Below I’ve listed a few things which have helped me to stay active without requiring me to make a huge commitment.

The Body Coach: Most of us will know all about the body coach, also known as Joe Wicks. He has become very successful with his 15 minute meals and quick workouts. I know the body coach has his own plan, but for me I find his YouTube HIIT sessions great! They only take roughly 20 minutes and you can do as much as you like. He has videos for a range of different levels and trust me, you can feel them working. You can find the Body Coach YouTube here.

Parkrun: Last Saturday I completed my first ever parkrun. Parkrun’s take place worldwide on Saturdays. It’s a free event which allows absolutely anyone to join in. You sign up online and get a barcode so you can record your time on the day. I’m not usually one to go for a run, but with lots of other people being there it really helped to motivate me. You can walk, jog or run. You can find out more information on the Parkrun website here.

Operation Transformation:  Operation Transformation is an Irish fitness programme. 5 overweight leaders are chosen. A range of specialists then help them on their health and fitness journey to loose weight and become healthier and more confident in themselves. Whenever I watch the programme it inspires me to eat better and exercise. Their meals and very easy to make and they have good exercise videos online. You can find the website here.

Fitting in a quick workout whenever you can is always great, whether it’s once a week or 4 times a week, it doesn’t matter. We are all different and what suits one person does not always suit another. I also find it very helpful to follow fitness fanatics on social media. Kayla Itsines (Instagram|Facebook) is a great one to follow, she’s so motivating and always has lots of fitness inspiration and tips on her social media. Joanne Larby, also known as The Makeup Fairy (Facebook|Instagram) is always very inspirational and a great person to follow for some fitness tips and motivation.

I hope you’re having a lovely day,
